The Carter & Co. Story
In October, 2005, Nick Carter formed an LLC to house the tax structure for his first business venture: acquiring a vending machine company. And, while it may not seem like a glorious start, the name tells a story... It wasn't a vending company, it was a company that happened to vend.
In May, 2006, Carter & Co. launched a consulting venture. Offering marketing strategies and deliverables for high-tech businesses, the firm quickly grew to a 6 people agency. In 2008, Carter & Co. acquired a smaller Industrial Design firm to further expand its services. It seemed all was going swell...
But something was missing. Something wasn't quite right. The projects were fun. The business was growing. But ultimately, Carter saw limits ahead. With his obligations to consulting clients mounting, how could Carter devote the attention needed to incubating new ventures?
AddressTwo, which today is one of Carter & Co.'s most successful business property, was introduced in June 2008. By August, there were 10 customers. By January 2009, another 30 were on board. Today, AddressTwo serves hundreds of businesses throughout the midwest.
More than just the growth itself, AddressTwo had bigger implications for Carter & Co. June 2008 marked a turning point for Carter & Co. The revenues from AddressTwo allowed Carter to restructure and re-energize his entrepreneurial ventures. Betweeted was launched and sold in 2009. Later, PostTwo -- a companion to the AddressTwo brand.
